Rape Stubble
      #3598 - 02/08/2008 15:00

Had a decent day on the rape stubble this week. the birds decoyed like a dream - coming in one's and two's all afternoon. I ended up with 50. By tea-time the birds had moved onto another stubble field, but to get to them I would have had to cross a field of standing OSR and would have done more damage than the birds! Still that field will be cut next week so I think I might just have a return visit

Hearing some good reports and numbers around the country, I get to go out soon I hope if work allows. Then 2 weeks running the family farm and the combines should be finished so I hope to get some sport to replenish the freezer!

Well I am getting out a fair bit in the evenings with the lamp on Rabbit and Fox control so that helps a lot, but I love the time sat in a hide over Decoys.

Drive around and see woodies all over the place and it is annoy when you can get out after them!

Well I went back today - Not A Bird In Sight!!!
The farmer had harvested the last field and then ploughed the lot
One or two birds flew over - but they wern't for decoying. Ended up with seven!! From a high to a low in one swoop!

Still it was a day out and I managed to watch a red kite for ages with the binoculars - beautiful bird to watch

Ah well, there's always next time

Exactly, if it was easy we would not be out all the time as it would get boring.

Out with the lamp tomorrow, looking forward to it!
