Desperately seeking Dorset rifle club!
      #2978 - 11/04/2008 14:06

I'm looking for a rifle club with access to fullbore facilities within striking distance of Weymouth as a preliminary to FAC application.

Have held FAC in the past, and have been a RCO for both my old club and cadet forces so will be an active member.

Any suggestions/recommendations/"stay away from.."s??

Many thanks

How far do you want to travel? Is Bisley too far?

Now, oddly enough, I have heard of this place called Bisley!
(I think they have a bit of a range there?)
;)

Yes they do, but it's very small. You can only use a catapult or tea spoon to launch bluetak at the wall.

Of course the other option is to join the army and get into the big gun dept, then you can use the ranges at Lulworth Cove

However,if this does not appeal, these are the ones I know of:

Thankee Cap'n Carling

Not sure I can handle the blu-tak yet - I hear Dorset police are a bit restrictive where it comes to soft nose ammo, and as for catapults - I'm not sure they make a scope yet with sufficinet elevation adjustment still I may give it a try! (spoons, of course, are classed as handguns, and I have already been down that sorry road)

Seriously - thanks for the info - two of them are smallbore only which rules them out for my gradual work up towards deerstalking, but Xchurch may be my final hope. Unless, of course, anyone out there knows different....!
