I'm looking to buy a new knife as I have lost mine. Just wondered what peoples recommendations are as I cant seem to make my mind up? I don't want to spend a fortune either. Cheers

Depends what you are using it for but my everyday knives are all opinel, cheap and good steel that holds a nice edge.
Blade is locked and I like the handles.
And if it gets lost I dont mind too much as they are cheap to replace.

I just bought an inexpensive knife with a gut hook, made by Whitby. It was only just over a tenner, and seems to be well made. Only time and use will tell if it stays sharp, but for that money, you can't go wrong. Paunched a bunny for the first time with it yesterday and it worked a treat.
If I had more to spend, I would have bought a Buck branded one as they look the business.
Cheers, HG.

I got a number 10 opinel in the end. Only £7 off the net. Works a treat and keeps it edge, So good that I have ordered a set of Opinel kitchen knives. The only gripe I have is that the blade goes a bit rusty if not dried after washing and it has watermarks on it. Oh well!
