Do you mean the 686 E, or the 682 Gold E? They are different guns and have a cost difference of about £700.
If you are relatively new to shooting its probably not worth spending the extra on the 682 Gold E, it won't necessarily help. I know several people with 686s who regularly shoot 40+ clays out of 50 at sporting, so it won't be the gun that holds you back for many years to come.
The 686 E Sporting is an excellent gun and although marketed as a clay shooting gun will be equally good for shooting game. Unless you're particularly tall or short, go for 30" barrels as they're the best compromise for shooting mainly clays and occasionally game.
