I believe all guns, including air rifles require a FAC, therefore you dont see many sub 12ftlb air rifles there. FAC rules are a little tighter than shotgun rules but it is still not that hard if you can proove need.

On the point of driving ban and not being suitable I would suggest a call to BASC if you are a member, if you are not it may be worth the membership fee as they will advise the best approach.
