I put in a complaint to the ASA website. Hopefully if enough complaints are written something will be done Your complaint: I would like to complain about the way shooting is portrayed in this advert. The guns are typically toffs, as many uninformed people view them, and the accuracy of the shootigng scene portrayed is ridiculous, showing them all off to be a bunch of old toffs endlessly slaughtering the "poor" birds willy nilly. It is propaganda like this that feeds into the minds of the uninformed, and puts our sport at jeapordy. Shooting is nothing like this at all, it is a dignifyed sport that from what ive experienced is not cruel at all. The birds are raised for the purpose of this sport and these city folk need to keep their noses out of rural affairs, or at least portray them in a factual way. Members of the "Shooting Times and Country Magazine" would appreicate it, if this advert was taken off air and formal apology was written in its place. Many thanks Melissa Phillips |
