A disease in a pigeon/doves crop, Advice please

Hey guys,

My boyfriend just a few days a go shot a pigeon (woody) that had an odd crop, Ive also shot a dove with the same thing. I know the pictures arn't very clear, they were taken on a phone. But ive seen this with my own eyes as ive said and ill try and describe as best I can.

When you open the pigeons crop its just normal skin isnt it, and then you have the leaves or seeds or whatever inside. You empty that all out and it just looks like normal bird skin right?

Well in this dove and pigeon the crop looked as though it was covered in pink intestine shaped things. thats the only way I can describe it to you. The things were not moving, the skin just looked like a wall of pink intestines.
We didnt eat the dove and pigeon, to be on the safe side.

Does anyone have any idea what this is? We asked his dad and hed never seen this before.
