First Gun - Advice

Hi All
I am pretty new to shooting, I have only borrowed guns before so don't know much about the various makes and models.
For my first gun I have around £400 to spend, do any of you have any advice on good makes/models to go for?
I will be shooting both clays and game, in the past I have mainly used under and overs and seemed to have the most success with these. However I do love the look of the side by sides!
What can I get for £400? Is it worth getting together another £100 to get me up to entry level Beretta guns??
