Pampered pooches owned by celebrities ie toy dogs are to blame for some of the once-poular breeds to be put on the industry's own endangered list ie SPANIELS, SETTERS etc.
I found this on the COUNTRYSIDE ALLIANCE website.

But who in their right mind wants a fashion accesory for a dog? Too many people with too much time on their hands (and little between the ears) i.e Paris Hilton.
Cant see her with a cocker spaniel in tow, can you???

sadly all the little girls that follow her particular sort of fashion are buying these little breeds with the aid of their parents and the dogs are becoming nothing more than the latest toy and dress up doll. Childrens peer pressure is appauling.
