Having just taken delivery of my new Howa 1500 Sporter in 22-250, I can report that for £430 its not only very good value, but also excellent build quality and very nice to use. It is coupled with a Falcon 4x14x56 scope and it took 8 rounds to zero in at 300 yards. As its going to be a fox rifle, the only thing I would say is you need a bi-pod! All in all, for a shade under £700 this package is well worth considering. I have not put a modereator on it, although have one on my licence if I decide I need one, the thinking being that even with one, it still makes a reasonable 'crack' and ear plugs are cheaper (you get a lot of throw-away ones for £200!!) The main gripe I have is that there dont seem to be any cases out there to fit the damn thing!! |

I toyed with a Howa when I went to get my 243, was very tempted at the money. My local RFD runs the same rifle as you for his foxing set up and swears by it, mind you he would as he sells them! What sort of case are you looking?? Jerry |

I'm after a soft padded case. The problem seems to be that most are not deep enough to take gun, scope and bi-pod, which is daft! Any ideas? |

Yes, make your own, its great fun and something to be proud of. You can stain it up nice aswell, cut it to any shape, go on have a go. Pop down to the DIY centre and get the materials, it`ll cost you about £25 all in. |

Might be something on this site: http://www.rifle-cases.co.uk/ I used them a while back and were OK. Jerry |
