whats the law on lock-knifes

HI
can anyone tell me the law on carrying a 3 inch lock-knife as i use it on the shoot such as mending the pheasant pens and round the shoot but i have to walk in public places to get there.

I'm not a lawyer or a policeman, however I believe that the law provides for you to carry the knife when you have good reason to do so. This would be covered (in my opinion) by your activities at your shoot. If you were to walk a long way from a 'reasonable' route to/from your shoot, ie through a shopping centre 1 mile off route, I'd expect BiB to take a dim view though.
Knife crime is very prominent in the news at the moment, so you may get asked to explain why you have it,but from what you say, you have good reason to have your knife with you to/from the place of the shoot.
