BSA SBS 12 gauge

A friend of mine has recently purchased a BSA SBS 12 gauge Shotgun. It appears to be No 1 of a pair having gold inlay No 1 on barrels. The serial No Is 39-734. Am interested to know if anyone can give any infomation or history of this particular gun.
