Asking for the help of all of the uk shooting community
As everyone knows the government is digging its heels in about implimenting the badger cull. Whilst these decision makers are sat in there offices in the middle of london making all the decisions and most have never even seen a real badger !
As you will probably also be aware with the cull in place it will also have an impact on the amount of deer that carry TB and will reduce numbers back down to a rarety as opposed to being quite common these days
By getting a petition with 10 thousand signatures on it will make the difference of wether the cull goes ahead or not

Done it. What sort of loony land are we living in where the government will ignore scientific evidence and allow up to 40,000 cattle to die, while sentencing the infected badgers to a horrible lingering death...

Politicians and common sense- no chance! Most are unemployable in the real world.
As you say badgers must also die from the disease so removing infected badgers would benefit the badger too.
Ireland has had a cull and the incidence of TB went down in those areas.
Some farms round here are shut down for most of the years but we have never had a case on farm- we have no badgers!! Across the A429 they are shut down most of the time.

During my gap year I worked on a farm which took dairy bull calves and reared them for beef. The farm we recieved them from was closed due to TB - they didn't have the room, the facilities or the staff to care for the calves properly and by the time they were re-opened and my boss took a first load they were in an awful state. We had to put them all back onto milk and teach them to feed from scratch.
If the 'animal welfare' brigade had seen the results of a TB closure then perhaps they'd be less keen on avoiding a cull.
