i need help.a friend of mine has labradoor pupies for sale. he's not a shooting man and has only breed her not to make a quick buck but to just breed her. anyway the 5 generation shows a lot of FTCH and i mean a lot. hips and eye test are very good and the guy who sold him his original bitch was some sort of breeded/ game keeper. these pups are going cheap around the £150 mark. is it worth buying a puppy thats not registered with the kc. what do i gain or what do i loose both parents on dam and sire side ftch,gt gradperents all ftch what do i do please help

Hi ,jwayne, If as you say the pedigree on both sire and dam are available to you? then you have pedigree pups! the fact that the litter was or hasnt been registered with the kennel club is immiterial,if you have the registered number of both sire and dam on the pedigree then you can contact the kennel club and register the pup to you. comtact www.thekennelclub.org.uk regards robert

thanks for the reply. the mother of the pups i intend to buy is not kc registered. i believe she is from a second litter that the breeder had in 12 months, and was not able to register her. the pedergry really is very good, but if i was to breed or compete id be stuck with a dog not kc registered. so its only the mother of the pups i intend to buy who isnt registered unfortunately.

If you are happy with the working ability, temperament and looks of the puppies parents and you only want him for working then a KC registration is irrelevent.
If you want to compete in KC licensed events such as Working Trials, I beleive you can register the pup on the Acitivities register however you won't be able to enter Field Trials or Gundog Working Tests unless he/she is registered on the Breed Register.

Hi Robert
Sorry to drag up an old post - but you are incorrect, the litter (or an individual pup) MUST be registered by the breeder within 12 months of the whelping (later registrations are possible in extreme circumstances)
Good luck on the 11th, sorry I cant make it this year, maybe next!

Yep. Go ahead. KC registration does not make a good dog so don't get too wrapped up in the KC label. My 3 year old Sprollie (cross collie springer) is the best dog I have ever owned. Not a hint of a KC registration as she is a first cross. I got the best of all worlds here. She is a born sniffer who will run all day and loves the water. Can't wait for her to bear pups. They won't be KC either but I'll bet they inherit the traits of her mother and the old springer dog that sired them.

well said i have a springer and a terrier neither are kc registered both are fine papers do not make the dog training does the time you put into the dog will make the dog the only thing you will losse is the price of any pupps you have in the future but if your breeding for money only take a long hard think about what your doing
