Finaly sorted, total 7 months and 1 week. I will add I had some history the police had to look into so it might be slightly less for stright forward grant.

Just a heads up that West Mercia/Warwickshire have got the waiting time down from 9 months in December for a SGC or FAC to just two months now.

They are however still behind on renewals which are still taking 10 months.

I don't understand how the system in the UK has gotten so bad and how it can be acceptable. I can't remember having to wait a significant length of time for my last renewal in Surrey. I've lived in Denmark the last 6 years and there are complaints here also that at times people are waiting too long. The justice minister here has just announced that every case will be handled within 20 working days.

There are only two centres here, East and West, on average the waiting time for a new license is 5 working days in the east and 7 days in the west, renewals average 5 days and 2 days and European weapons passports 15 days and 8 days and still there are complaints.

I really hope things improve back in Britain. The current situation is completely unacceptable.

My renewal has taken a sinister twist.
Co,Durham force DON'T want a hard copy of medical records.
They do want (any offences dating to biblical times)
Had a few minor motoring offences in the 80's/early 90's
    SO
The police don't keep these records.
A private firm called Acro have them.
    Release/hard copy fee 45
The lady FEO I spoke to said
"Its not mandatory,But if you can't remember the exact dates it's wise to request a hard copy to show i'm not trying to hide something"
    Exact dates?
    I can't remember which decade.
Also mentioned "my referee had been on holiday"
Answer "you can get a neighbour to sign if they've known you for X amount of years"
Hmm do I want neighbours knowing my buisness?

I get on with my neighbours but none know I shoot, only a few friends outside the shooting community know, and doubt I would ask them for a reference and some I have known from the 80's.

That's a new one on me asking a private company for any records, touch wood I only have a parking ticket not declarable thankfully.

had a phone call from Durham firearms today to "clear a few thing up"
Previous convictions for motoring "not interested" so all well there. (dating back to the 80's)
    Medical conditions. Bad back.
    .
Q.do you have a house alarm?
A.no but I will have this weekend
Over X amount of guns requires the house to be alarmed.
    .
    110 Yale one is sufficent
So all you shooters who moan about paying 50 for medical reports.
    .
I'll be more than twice that out of pocket and up a ladder this weekend
