I notice you live in Aycliffe. Me too. I applied for shotgun certificates for myself and my son last week. Just wondered if you have any idea how long it is likely to take.

    Small world Andy.
Durham have moved the firearms dept. to Peterlee since my last renewal.
Last renewal took less than a month (5 years ago)this one has been in for about a month now.
New aplication might take priority over renewals.
The police have to do various background checks.
Obviously you shoot at 1 of the local grounds ,this goes a long way with the "do you have experience"
I'm a member of 1 clay club (shooting insurance included in the fee) although every other Sunday I venture elsewhere.
Normally Co.Durham are sharp off the mark.
Have you had a phone call to arrange "the informal chat"?

I only put the application in last week, so wasn't expecting a call for quite a while. Reading various posts I thought it would take up to six months.

New cert came today via Royal Fail 2nd class.
Applied around the 5th and arrived the 31st.
So Durham aren't bad at renewals.
Just looking at the current(old) and new cert side by side.
The last 5 years haven't been kind.
More wrinkles/less hair and more grey in the less hair.
    .
We'll have to wait for Andy to tell us how long a new application takes.

As a side note. I didn't have a home inspection (bought the hobnobs and didn't need them)
Don't know if the Police have driven past to "make sure an alarm box was present"
