I'm in north central Oklahoma, about 65 miles south of the KS/OK state line, Ark City, Arkansas City, is just across the state line.
    .
I'm guessing you must have taken those birds in the western part of Kansas, in Oklahoma it is illegal to take pheasants east of I-35, and you really don't run into them until you get to the panhandle and the four or so counties adjoining it.

Dang fine birds, nice looking Shorthair too. Gun ain't half either.

I was born in Guymon, Oklahoma, which is south of Liberal. Liberal, KS was the "largest", closest city, city to Guymon, back in the 1950s and 1960s. Dad and my older brothers hunted pheasants and quail in the panhandle before we moved. I got to go back and hunt pheasants with dad years later. Truly that part of the USA has some of the best people you'll ever meet.
