    A response from the Conservatives

On the 3rd of May, I sent the following email to Number 10:

    Hello.

I am contacting you as a passionate shooter who, along with many others in the community, will have shooting on their minds when we vote on the 8th of June. As such, I am eager to hear what the Prime Minister's stance is towards either relaxing or increasing restrictions on firearms and shooting in the UK - specifically, what her feelings are towards the reintroduction of .22 pistols for sporting purposes.

I am also interested to hear what the Conservative Party's general stance is towards firearms and shooting. It has been responsible for a number of restrictions that shooters in the UK face today, and hardly addressed the topic during either the coalition or since the last election. If the Conservative Party does remain in power, will we at least see discussion on the topic of firearms legislation, and will it be in support of relaxation or restriction?

Thank you for your time and any insight you may give.

    Yours faithfully

    Harry Stawman

    Today, I received a response:

    Dear Mr Stawman,

    Thank you for your email.

The Conservative Party recognises shooting as an important part of rural life, contributing 2 billion to the UK economy and supporting the equivalent of 74,000 full-time jobs.

As well as its significant economic contribution, providing jobs and investment in some of our most remote areas, shooting delivers important benefits for wildlife and habitat conservation. It is estimated that shooting is involved in the land management of two-thirds of the rural land area, with nearly two million hectares actively managed for conservation.

The Conservative Party will continue to support shooting sports and the rights of all those who wish to use firearms safely and in accordance with the law.

    Thank you again for writing.

Sounds promising, as long as it isn't politician's waffle. I wonder what reply you would get from Labour and, where I live, the SNP?

Providing we modify our guns to fire hugs and flowers, I'm sure Mr Corbyn will support us.

No, no - he's a socialist, which means providing he and his ilk are the only ones with the guns (and the champagne, the money and the power), everything is fine. I'm damn sure Corbyn is only a pacifist as far as other people not hurting him (and his cronies) goes - he's perfectly happy to harm / impoverish the other 70 million people in this country with his "economic plan".
    .
Then again, if the Tories get a 200-seat majority, the only thing that'll hurt is the Tory party, because they'll become their own opposition and split - probably best that the rest of them get a few seats, provided it isn't enough to stop us freeing ourselves from the claws of the organization I don't care to mention further at this point...
Freedom is having the right to offend and be offended; politeness is temporarily eschewing that right in respect of others; maturity is understanding the compromise and applying it.

I noticed the failure to address the question on .22 caliber handguns.
    .
Of the five past Presidents and the current President we've had four either pass or support anti-gun measures. Only George W. Bush and Mr. Trump did not or have not supported anti-gun bills. I'm fairly sure Romney's lack luster stance on guns resulted in many gun owners staying away from the polls and Obama's reelection in 2012.
    .
Just as I am certain that it was Donald Trumps support of the American gun owner that brought out a massive turnout on his behalf.
    .
Keep after the politicians, when they find themselves in a close race they will look to groups for support. If they fail to support the cause they promised to support with hold your votes. This is what George H.W. Bush found out in 1992.

Yeah, it's disappointing in that respect. I sent him another email directly asking if the Conservatives with support a repeal of the handgun ban. Have to wait and see if they reply.

Don't forget the Peoples' Republic of Scotland, subservient to Brussels and anywhere else as long as it is left-wing and isn't British, as foreseen by Nicola Sturgeon.............

Yeah, people keep running back and forth between two party like a cheating husband going between wife and mistress all the time. The firearms laws are keep being clarified but its gets more confusing with different acts and other regulations. lately passed.
