i think if they had their way it would be illegal to shoot any type of bird....probably even a clay bird!!

they need to wake up and realise that some shooters are doing more than all their bleeding hearts put together for conservation.

so are they going to eventually want more and more conditions put on peoples licences and possibly want input into the shotgun/firearms licencing as well?

also think some people need to understand the food chain a bit better!

I used to fish near Surlingham Church, great for bream and roach. RSPB bought the land next to the river and that wa sthe end to fishing from the bank, cheers.

For a Charity (and it should remember that) the RSPB assumes an authority it has never been granted. It seeks to ban anyone and everyone who is not an RSPB member, from any use of or enjoyment in the avian scene or natural world. Anything written by any of its "birder" membership is gospel, anything written by anyone else is anecdotal and therefore worthless. It is not "Scientific". A licensed "birder" can scale the cliffs, handle, weigh, ring or just cuddle birds of prey young in their nests with impunity. You try walking close to a nesting site and you will be hit with a £5,000 fine and/or jail sentence, or both for "disturbing" a protected species. Anyone, other than a wide eyed, paid up member is an enemy insofar as the RSPB is concerned, and their sacred birds of prey are Gods which may only be viewed through telescopes, preferably paid ones.

Dont forget that they also accuse gamekeepers of killing Birds of Prey on a regular basis,
Round here we are pleased to have loads of collared doves to distract sparrowhawk depredations - have only a few thrushes and blackbirds left.

Bollocks to them , to put it mildly, the RSPB know two halves of F*** all when it comes to the british countryside , last i heard they wanted to release fish eagles in norfolk ! the chunky sweater wearing tweets should think again before interfering in my life . I get the impression the organisation is full of animal rights people who have nothing better to do than to try and turn us all into veggie eating pulse growing diversity freaks who count every bird that visits our garden each year.

But they are accorded respect and attention by government even though they are a charity and sometimes their track record on managing their reserves for the benefit of some species leaves a lot to be desired due to lack of predator control.
