Put your location in your profile so people know where you are as the north east is a big area and then the locals can help you out. You will even make new friends to shoot with

Your fine in the garden but the pellet must not leave the garden.
Just hope your neighbours are a little way down the road though because they always get worried if they are the other side of the fence/hedge.

Hi exwasp, welcome aboard. As Rob says,so long as your air-rifle pellets don't leave the boundary of your land then you are legal.
If there's a neighbour directly next door,it may be courteous to let them know what you're doing (for the first time anyhow)then no-one becomes alarmed and 'armed response' don't stick their MP5's(do they still use these?)over your garden fence!Have fun.

thanks for replies over shooting in the back garden i do have a neighbour next door but do have a 6 foot fence all around i spoke with him today and he told me as long as i didnt shoot his cat he couldnt see a problem as hes been practicing his archery out there for quite some time and i thought the swishing noises were him wipping his wife ha ha i have also located a shooting club in durham city called saint giles and yarners and have managed to get me and my son on a waiting list then once involved in that i think i should maybe contact local golf clubs and farmers as they may have more confidence in me being on their land i wish i had taken this up years ago as im enjoying it very much once again thankyou

Being a member of a recognised club will help when trying to secure some land but don't forget insurance as well.

    Good luck in the future.

BASC,country side alliance,or Google air rifle insurance.

Cover is for injury/death to humans and live stock, damage to property(fences gates etc)

The way the Country is at the moment (i'm going to sue you because you sneezed and my wife tripped over sort of thing)

It's more of a piece of mind thing for the landowner. If anything happens he/she won't be out of pocket for letting you shoot there.
