Hull Comp X 12Ga shotgun cartridge

I'm currently using the 28gms version of this cartridge for clay shooting and have been getting on very well with them.

They are available in either fibre or plastic wad, shot size 7.5 and with option of 28gms or the 'infamous' 21gms.

Arguably 28gms is a little 'heavy' for clay shooting, however they are very low recoil whilst still maintaining a good velocity of 1375fps (feet per second) and can currently (as of Dec '10) be bought for 159 per 1000 for the fibre wads or 146 for the plastic.

The 21gms variant has a slightly faster velocity of 1425fps with almost no felt recoil making them the perfect cartridge for younger / female shots. 21gms is perfectly adequate for breaking clays and can currently be bought for 149 per 1000 for the fibre wads or 135 for plastic.

Due to the small shot size, these cartridges aren't really suitable for pigeon shooting.

He is right though, if you can`t get it into your head that the 21g will kill anything and your a big butch man that needs recoil (yeah right) then the 28g is very good indeed, and we won`t tell anyone that they hardly recoil at all. We`ll pretend just for you that they kick like a mule on steroids.

Tell ya what though, those 7 1/2s Comp x will kill pigeons well enough IF your good, confident enough to use chokes like 3/4 + 3/4 or full.

Yes agree with using the Hull comp X 21G's are a very good cartridge, got some other 28G's to use up then will be using the Comp X 21G's all the time.

The only exception to this is, if the semi won't cycle them after a days sporting, then it will have to be the Comp X 28G's.

The 21G fibre's are 144 per 1000 in my neck of the woods.

Can't beat having a day out shooting clays.

Ok I'll admit to now being a convert of the Hull CompX 21g!

I went for a round of 100 sporting, had 1 box of the CompX and 3 boxes of 28g sovereign. I probably scored the same, if not better than with the sovereigns and my shoulder was much better for it too!

I'll be picking up 250 when I'm next anywhere near greenfields or any other stockist for that matter.
