    Lains Shooting School

Has anyone been here? I might pop in this saturday coming as its the closest one I have found to where I am, its only 10 Mins down the road.

It could well be the place where I christen my new gun which I am picking up on Friday afternoon! Very excited!

Would be good to know a bit about the layout before I go hairing off on Saturday.

I`v been to Lains about 5/6 times but I find the ground very scruffy and a lot to be desired. They have had problems with noise in the past so all the stands are dug down into the ground which really limits the type of targets you can shoot. It`s like being in the trenches in world war one, very strange indeed. Friendly though I must say. If it`s only 10 min`s away though its worth a visit to try the new gun.

You have to use their cartridges at Lains & they are sub-sonics so you have to add about 12" lead to the closest targets & 12'0" to the furthest.
It's worth one visit for the experience.
For us it's about the same distance as Spitfire, we'll be going to Spitfire again it's cheaper!
Just remembered Lains close early, so only day shooting.
Have fun wherever you go! Could well see you on the 5th March @ Wyle.

Are you going to Spitfire this saturday chris?

I could pop over there as I will need to drop the wife off at hockey and then go and buy my gun. It would be a shame not to use my new gun on the day I get it!

I suspect not this weekend, We're thinking about Podimore, it's closer to home. I think you would find Spitfire a good place to try your new toy. I remember the feeling of getting ones ticket, rushing off to Avalon Guns, to pick up mine & then rushing upto Mendip to collect the other halfs gun. I think we got out onto their DTL sporting layout in seconds. Thinking about it the only "not great" thing was the amount of money handed over that day & the subsequent affect on our Bank balance since.
Have a really good day & hit'em all
