Hello mate,
The 686 gold E is a very good choice of gun for clay shooting, It has Optima chokes which is as good as you can get and Optibore barrels which cut down recoil. A 30 inch barrel will be best as it will help you swing on to the target better than the 28 inch.
It will be excellent for game shooting or rough shooting, the main difference you will notice between a game gun and a sporter which the 686 gold E is, will be the 686 is about 2x pounds heavier which will help with the recoil dampening.
If thats what you want and most importantly it fits quite well, then go and get one, you will love it.
Buy brand new and log on to the GMK website and get a free 3 x years extended warranty. Good luck.
